I was born on a Sunday between April and May
In a cold lonely city, very far from LA
We got hold of an airplane and flew straight away
To the country out west, to the US of A
I was young, much too young
To be running away

And I think you would know if you knew me back then
How Iearned to let go of the women and men
Who I’d love and adore, but wouldn’t see again
And I can’t let that go, and I just can’t pretend
I was young, much too young
To be feeling this way

And now I am stressed out, when you’re around
And I can’t understand why I’m living in doubt
It's been 40 long years since it happened to me,
And I’m standing on my feet but I’m scared as can be
And I can’t go backward, And I can’t move forward

There were times I was strong, there were times I would swear
There were times I was running with my arms in the air
Had my feet in the water, but I just couldn’t swim
Had my hands in my pockets but I just couldn’t win
I was young, much too young
To be feeling this way
To be running away

And now I am stressed out, when you’re around

Its been 40 long years since it happened to me,
